Recently, I accidentally discovered a little exercise that was a bit interesting and good for a little bit of personal growth.
I suggest giving it a go. It’s easy. Just search your work and personal email outboxes (sent items) for the phrase “Sorry” or “Apologies” or something similar.
You will be presented with a list of times where you apologized for something. It is a very interesting list to read through.
Well, what did I find? Unsurprisingly (in hindsight) I was most frequently sorry for disturbing someone, or sending too much information. I suppose from this you can conclude that it is on my mind how much time people spend reading emails and I do not want to contribute more to that… but, I still sent the email…
Would be great to hear some others!
